09-16-2026: Moderni; This modern-spanish style architecture at iconic lakefront Palm Beach estate in Florida redefines modern elegance by taking traditional and dark Mediterranean features  to make them light, airy, and contemporary. Collaborating closely with  designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, the Hilfigers built a signature design philosophy centered on bringing the outdoors into the courtyard and the ocean. The foundation of the concept is stripping away dark wood paneling, heavy drapes, and travertine. The Hilfigers painted walls in a crisp ivory, bleached original pecky cypress ceilings, and opted for light, bleached French oak flooring to instantly modernize the space.

PROJECT IDEAS

This modern-style house has a blend of classic Spanish-Mediterranean architecture with modern sprit of clean aesthetic.

  • High-Contrast Neutrals: Plentiful use of ivory and cream boucle or linen sofas layered with bold, geometric accent pillows.
  • Preppy-Meets-Coastal Accents: Incorporating signature tailored patterns, deep blues, and structural palm plants to give a resort-like warmth.
  • Bold Statement Lighting: Massive, modern white chandeliers and black iron lanterns that bridge old-world European charm with contemporary art gallery aesthetics.
  • Loggia Entertaining: Outdoor dining areas defined by soaring stone arches, exposed wooden ceiling beams, and minimalist furniture.
  • Symmetrical Landscaping: Long, runway-like swimming pools flanked by manicured hedges and tall palm trees that echo the symmetry of the home’s architecture.

PROJECT SPECS

Coral Stone: This is the home’s defining material. It forms the grand columns, classical interior arches, entry foyer, and primary living room fireplace; Pecky Cypress Wood: This natural wood features prominently on the heavy, exposed ceiling beams. The Hilfigers intentionally bleached and lightened it during renovation to create a fresher, more modern atmosphere; Mahogany and Cherry Wood: These rich, traditional hardwoods were heavily utilized by the previous owners for millwork and structure. The design team stripped them down or modified them to brighten the spaces; Marble: Classic marble is used throughout the house for various fireplaces, accents, and bathroom vanities; Stucco and Plaster: Authentic to the Mediterranean style, plaster finishes are applied to the exterior facade and interior walls to complement the bright “coral stone ivory” palette…See More!
