“My name is xxx. I am a registered architect with over X years experience. My experience includes architecture, interior design, and urban design. I worked at various project ypes of commerical, academic, institutional, and residential projects. The project experience is diverse from design to construction including desiging, detailing, and engineering. Last X years in my professional career, I was responsible for techincal aspects of the projects in building code, building envelope, and site construction at the leadership position. That is pretty much what I can say about my career.”
Right after graduation, I got a job at X architects and worked on a lot of renovation projects. After X years, I was ready to move on; also, at the same time, the company was running out of works. My boss recommended me to X firm. That was how I got a job there. At X, I worked on big projects like academic and housing projects, but wanted to have an opportunity for X, but it did not work well. They let me go. At X, I had great opportunity to work on interesting interior projects including design and construction and was responsible for managing projects and junoir architects, but last X months there, they had no quality projects except tiny renovation projects. I was ready to move on and they knew it. I got a job at X right away after they let me go. At X, I had a great opportunity for design in architecture, interior design, and urban design, but 4 and half years later, the firm was hit by the great recession. A bunch of people were laid off; and I was one of them. The firm disappeared a couple of years later. After that, I was struggling to find a right job – a long term job becasue I was not quite a designer nor technical architect. In other words, I did not have a specialty. At last job, I was still looking for a designer position, but my boss wanted to work on technical aspects of the projects in builidng code and envelope. I thought it might have been temporary, but liked the job. I found out I am much better at technical solution than design and good at it with specialty. Professionally a technical position is right for my professional career. That is why I am excited aobut this this job.
I have been looking for a technical position with specialty in building code and building envelope and checking on various job posting sites every day. I found your position at X.
Your project types and work environment are what I have been looking for. I believe my skills and experiences are good match to your needs. I feel like I can make a great contribution to your growth and sucess and you might appreciate it.
I like your project types I can enjoy and also make a technical contribution to. Also you seem to have good working environment as well as good location.
I have a specialy in builidng code and building envelope as well as diverse experience from design to construction. I think I have unique skills that other candidates do not have.
I would like to manage technical aspects of the projects. For building code, I would like to check the code compliance at the beginning of the projects so that a project is in the right path. After that, I want to make sure all design and technical solutions to be complied with the code before the submission. For building envelope, I would like to supervise junior architects for their technical solutions in detailing and engineering and manage their use of building details with proper standardards and folder structure to streamline the design and construction process.
My strength is at diligent work ethics, a wide reange of project experience from design to constrction, and specialty in building code and building envelope.
I am not good at being political. I need to work on perception from other people. I need to improve a balance between honesty and politeness.
At one project in my last job, the project was going to proceed with poor foundation layout and coordination. The architect was fired and I had to get involved in the project to redesign the layout with engineering coordination from the start.
